After 70 years of construction and development, the school has become a university characterized by water conservancy and hydropower, focusing on engineering, with the coordinated development of science, engineering, management, agriculture, economics, literature, law and art. At present, there are 64 full-time undergraduate enrollment majors, including national and provincial excellent plan construction majors (bases) 10 and national and provincial comprehensive reform pilot majors 15.

There are 14 provincial key disciplines and 3 characteristic backbone disciplines in Henan province, among which water conservancy project was selected as the first-class creation discipline in Henan province. Four doctoral degrees authorize first-level disciplines, and 38 master's degrees authorize first-level disciplines and authorized fields.
