St John's University, or Yoda for short, is located in Shanghai. As of the spring of 1949, the school covers an area of more than 300 mu and is a private church comprehensive university. The headmaster is Tu Yuqing, and the school motto is "LightandTruth". "Learning without thinking is useless, thinking without learning is dangerous".

The school has five colleges and affiliated middle schools of arts, science, medicine, engineering and theology, and established the first journalism major in China on 192 1. St. John's University, founded in the late 1970s,19; 1905, Francis Liszt Hawkes Porter was registered in Washington, and St. John's College became St. John's University. 1940 St. John's University was forced to close down; After 1949, the Ministry of Education of East China Military and Political Commission was established, and Shanghai universities moved to the Ministry for management. 1952, St. John's University was cancelled. Well-known alumni include Gu Weijun, Zhang Ailing and Lin Yutang.
