According to the statistics of the National Center for the Development of Academic Degrees and Postgraduate Education, the phenomenon of forging academic degrees and diplomas is very common, accounting for about 20% of the total, which makes many employers feel at a loss. To this end, the Service Center for Studying Abroad of the Ministry of Education launched the certification service for foreign students' academic credentials.

The certification scope of foreign academic degree certificates includes:

1. College degree or above and degree certificate obtained by studying formal courses abroad;

2. Foreign academic qualifications and degree certificates obtained from the joint school project approved by the State Council Academic Degrees Committee.

At present, the countries receiving certification services are: the United States, Britain, New Zealand, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Denmark, Switzerland, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Japan, Singapore, India, Mongolia, North Korea, Thailand, South Korea, Russia, Ukraine and other CIS countries.

The certification contents of foreign academic qualifications and degree certificates include:

1. Confirm whether the applicant has ever studied or studied in a certified institution of higher learning or educational and scientific research institutions abroad; 2. Confirm whether the school or institution attended by the applicant is recognized by the host government or authorities; 3. Confirm whether the applicant's school or institution offers the major involved in the certificate and award the corresponding degree; 4. Confirm whether the applicant has really obtained a diploma or degree certificate; 5. Confirm the academic year of the applicant; 6. Confirm the foreign degree certificate, diploma category and educational level obtained by the applicant.
