Medical insurance for college students can be paid voluntarily according to needs, as follows:

1, college students' medical insurance is not mandatory, and college students' medical insurance is the principle of voluntary insurance, and there is no mandatory provision;

2. To include college students in the medical insurance for urban residents, one is to ensure the seamless connection of the national medical security system covering urban and rural residents. The second is to implement college student insurance, covering students and part-time graduate students in universities (including private universities and independent colleges) and research institutes in the province, especially private universities and independent colleges, and highlighting educational equity;

3. In addition, according to the individual contributions of students and the affiliation of the school, the central, provincial and municipal finances give subsidies according to the prescribed standards.

Financing:

1, for college students participating in the basic medical insurance for urban residents, it shall be implemented according to the individual payment standard and subsidy standard for participating in the basic medical insurance for urban residents. In principle, individual contributions are borne by college students themselves and their families, and schools with conditions can give subsidies;

2, the government subsidies for college students, according to the affiliation of the school, by the finance at the same level is responsible for the arrangement. The central government subsidizes local college students in accordance with the basic medical insurance subsidy method for urban residents. College students' daily medical expenses shall continue to be subsidized by the finance at the same level according to the affiliation of the school;

3, all regions should take measures to implement the medical assistance system for the basic medical insurance premiums paid by college students with financial difficulties and the medical expenses borne by them according to regulations. Through the establishment of financial aid system and social charity donation for students from poor families, the burden of medical expenses for students from poor families has been effectively reduced.
