Briefly introduce Wuhan University of Technology in English.
As a key university directly under the Ministry of Education, Wuhan University of Technology (WUT) is one of the "National 2 1 1 Engineering" institutions. With the support of this plan, WUT has made great progress as a higher education institution, especially in the fields related to science and technology.

WUT is located in Wuhan, the largest city along the Yangtze River in central China. Known as "the thoroughfare of nine provinces", Wuhan is the largest inland land, sea and air transportation hub with rich regional and urban natural resources. This city is also one of the most important scientific, educational and cultural centers in central China. As one of the most important universities in Wuhan, WUT covers an area of 267 hectares with a total construction area of over 65,438+520,000 square meters. It has many campuses in downtown Wuhan.

WUT has formed a diversified discipline system, including engineering, science, literature, management, economy, law, philosophy, history, education, medicine and so on. There are 79 undergraduates, 0/53 postgraduates (including MBA, MPA and MFA), 62 doctors and 3 postdoctoral research stations. WUT has also established 3 national key laboratories and industrial experimental bases, 24 provincial and ministerial key laboratories and engineering research centers.

WUT attaches great importance to the development of teachers. At present, there are about 6,000 full-time employees, including 3,000 faculty members, including 582 professors, 1, 173 associate professors, 6 academicians of China Academy of Sciences and China Academy of Engineering, 2 experts of "Thousand Talents Program", 2 chief scientists of "973 Plan" and "Major Scientific and Technological Research Program", 5 Changjiang scholars and Chutian. There are 75 national and internationally renowned young experts, including 36 100 undergraduates, 16200 postgraduates and doctoral students, and 450 overseas students.

In recent years, WUT has undertaken a large number of projects in cooperation with the National Natural Science Foundation, the National 973 Plan, the National 863 Plan, the National Science and Technology Support Plan and key scientific research projects at ministerial and provincial levels. By seizing numerous opportunities of cooperation with industry and government, WUT's research fund has increased year by year, reaching 420 million yuan in 2008. In the same year, WUT also won 57 national, ministerial and provincial scientific and technological achievement awards, 205 patents were authorized, and 223 scientific and technological papers were included in Sci, EI and ISTP. Over the years, a series of advanced research results have been achieved in a series of applications and research fields such as optical fiber sensors, high-speed ship engineering, electric vehicles, new materials, port machinery and advanced manufacturing. WUT Science and Technology Park is located in China Optics Valley, Wuhan, covering an area of 53.3 hectares. In 2008, it realized an income of 65,438 RMB +0.8 billion RMB.

WUT is committed to improving students' comprehensive quality and innovative ability on the basis of cultivating high-quality, adaptable talents, strong motivation and strong innovative atmosphere. In addition, a number of national experimental teaching demonstration centers (materials science and engineering experimental teaching center, mechanical and electronic engineering experimental training center, national engineering basic course chemistry teaching base, national college students' cultural quality education base, and national talent training mode innovation experimental base) are becoming more and more mature and constantly producing cutting-edge educational achievements. In addition, WUT is also a model university of college English teaching reform in China. In 2007, WUT was rated as an excellent undergraduate education by the Higher Education Evaluation Committee of the Ministry of Education. U p to now, U P has 16 national-level excellent courses, 63 provincial-level excellent courses, 9 national-level excellent teaching achievements and 68 provincial-level teaching achievements. After graduation, the employment rate has been stable at over 94%.

WUT has emphasized and will continue to emphasize internationalization. The university has established cooperation projects with more than 100 universities and research institutions in the United States, Britain, Japan, Australia, Germany, the Netherlands, Russia, France and Italy. WUT also invited outstanding scholars from all over the world to give lectures on campus, and awarded 200 visiting professors and honorary professors. Every year, as many as 65,438+0,000 foreign visiting scholars stay in WUT campus, 600 students go abroad for further study, and nearly 400 teachers conduct overseas visits and cooperative research.

WUT has also established strong ties with industry and government departments. To this end, the university has successfully established three boards of directors supported by enterprises in building materials and construction engineering, transportation and automobile industries. These committees include representatives from 65 major enterprises in the building materials industry, 50 in the transportation industry and 66 in the automobile industry in China. In addition, 52 alumni associations have cooperated with the general office of WUT Alu mni, and 95 local government joint bases are located in 32 provincial administrative regions in China. WUT holds regular meetings of industrial committees and alumni committees.

In line with the principle of "educating people first, putting academics first", WUT has always adhered to the school motto of "respecting virtues, learning from others and pursuing Excellence". The university also strives to expand itself in four basic directions: promoting individuality, harmony, internationalization and innovation. WUT's current goal is to transform itself into a first-class university in China and build some of its characteristic projects into world-class. In order to achieve these goals, WUT will become an open, multidisciplinary and personalized research university in 2020.
