Hebei University of Science and Technology is a university. The school was formed by the merger of the former Hebei Institute of Light Chemical Industry, hebei mechanical and electrical College, Hebei Textile Workers' College and Hebei Textile Industry School. Higher education was held in 1956. In the course of running a school for many years, the school has always adhered to the tenet of "devoting to the all-round development of people and serving the regional economic construction and social progress", adhering to the school motto of "diligence and responsibility" and the spirit of "enterprising, cooperation and dedication", and has trained more than 300,000 outstanding graduates for the country.

In 2020, it will rank 77th in China and 2nd in Hebei Province. The school was rated as a national typical innovation and entrepreneurship experience university and a national model university for deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform. The implementation rate of undergraduate graduates ranks in the forefront of provincial universities, and has trained outstanding alumni such as Han Buxing, an academician of China Academy of Sciences, and Ren, an academician of China Academy of Engineering, and has been selected as one of the top 100 universities in China University's rich alumni list for four consecutive years.
