Fudan University (Fudan University for short), located in Shanghai, is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC), directly under the Central Government and jointly established by the Ministry of Education and Shanghai. It is a national "985 Project" and "21Project" construction university, and it has been selected into the A-class list of "double-class" construction universities, "Everest Plan", "1/plan" and "20 165438. Party Secretary Qiu Xin and President Li Jing. The school motto is "erudite and determined, inquisitive and thoughtful".

By April 2020, the school has four campuses, namely, Handan, LAM Raymond, Zhangjiang and Jiangwan, with a total area of about 2,439,200 square meters and a school building area of 224 1 1 ,000 square meters.

There are/kloc-0 disciplines such as philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, medicine, management, art, etc. There are 35 directly affiliated colleges (departments), 79 undergraduate majors, 37 doctoral degree authorization points for first-class disciplines, 43 master degree authorization points for first-class disciplines (including first-class disciplines) and 4 doctoral degree authorization points. The school has 3 139 teaching and research staff.

Fudan University, formerly known as Fudan College, was founded in 1905, and it is one of the earliest institutions of higher learning independently founded by the people in China. Shanghai Medical University, formerly the National Fourth Sun Yat-sen University Medical College founded by 1927, is the first national medical college independently founded by the people of China. In 2000, Fudan University merged with Shanghai Medical University to form a new Fudan University.

By 2022, Fudan University will rank 5th in China University in 2022 and 34th in QS World University in 2023.
