1985, the school was renamed Shanghai Law School.

1993 With the approval of the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, Shanghai University Law School was established on the basis of Shanghai Law School and the Law Department of Shanghai University College of Literature, and in that year, it began to recruit general education undergraduates.

After 1998, relying on the advantages of Shanghai University, the college won three master's degree awarding points: Constitution and Administrative Law, Criminal Law and Jurisprudence.

On September 23, 2004, with the official approval of the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, Shanghai Institute of Political Science and Law Management and Shanghai University Law School were abolished, and Shanghai University of Political Science and Law was established as an independent municipal undergraduate university.

In 2007, Shanghai University of Political Science and Law was re-approved as a bachelor's degree awarding unit.

20 10 accepted and passed the qualification evaluation of undergraduate teaching in ordinary colleges and universities of the Ministry of Education.

On July 20 1 1, the State Council Academic Degrees Committee and Shanghai Academic Degrees Committee approved that Shanghai University of Political Science and Law was the master's degree awarding unit, and the authorized disciplines were legal theory, constitutional law, administrative law and criminal law.
