Shanghai University of Engineering Science was founded in 1978 as the electromechanical branch of Shanghai Jiaotong University, the branch of East China Institute of Chemical Technology (1984 merged into the electromechanical branch of Shanghai Jiaotong University) and the branch of East China Textile Institute. 1985 With the approval of the Ministry of Education, Shanghai University of Engineering Science was established on the basis of the Electromechanical Branch of Shanghai Jiaotong University and East China Institute of Textile Technology.
June 20 18 shows that the school has Songjiang, Changning, Hongkou and other campuses, covering an area of nearly 1400 mu, with a total construction area of 480,000 square meters. The main campus is located in Shanghai Songjiang University Town. 20/KLOC-In March, 2009, joint innovation lab, a 5G+ artificial intelligence application jointly established by University and Shanghai Unicom, was unveiled. With the completion and use of the 5G campus network, Shanghai University of Engineering Science became the first university in China to achieve deep coverage of the 5G network.
