The current situation of college students' extracurricular reading: College students have insufficient extracurricular reading time, and the reading volume has a downward trend. At present, the time spent by college students on reading is greatly reduced. According to a survey, students who spend less than 30 minutes on their birthdays and 1 hour account for the highest proportion, and more than 64.3% students spend less than 1 hour on their birthdays. The average daily reading time is less than 30 minutes or the proportion of no extracurricular reading time is as high as 35.2%. [1] 59.9% of the students read 1-4 books a month on average, but 20. 1% of them don't read 1 books, and nearly 80% of the college students read less than 48 books a year on average. [2] It shows that the current extracurricular reading rate of college students is seriously declining, and a considerable proportion of college students rarely do extracurricular reading, which may be related to the heavy professional courses and the busy postgraduate entrance examination. In today's media developed era, perhaps reading is no longer the most important way for contemporary college students to acquire knowledge and information.

Nowadays, college students' extracurricular reading mainly focuses on literary works. A survey shows that novels and biographies account for more than 95% [3], and college students are interested in books such as medicine and mental health, art, sports, law and economics. In addition, with the increasing temperature of taking various qualification certificates, civil servants and postgraduate entrance examinations, these related books have become the main content of college students' extracurricular reading, while some abstruse, boring and obscure books, such as ancient prose, philosophy, politics and advanced professional books, are less involved.
