Yuquan Campus of Zhejiang University is located in the northwest corner of West Lake, next to Hangzhou Botanical Garden. The campus covers an area of 1.700 mu, and the school has a total construction area of 700,000 square meters. Yuquan Campus is the former site of Zhejiang University.

Zhejiang University was founded in 1897, formerly known as Qiushi Academy. It is one of the earliest new institutions of higher learning founded by the people of China. It is one of the first universities to implement "2 1 1 Project", "985 Project", "Everest Plan" and "1/Plan", and it is also a member of C9 Alliance, World University Alliance and Pacific Rim University Alliance.
In the long-term process of running a school, Zhejiang University has cultivated a large number of outstanding talents with rigorous and realistic style and created fruitful results with persistent innovative spirit.
Zhejiang University has a strong faculty. At present, there are three academicians of China Academy of Sciences 13, four academicians of China Academy of Engineering 14, 24 chief scientists of Project 973 and 99 winners of outstanding youth funds.
