Article 36 of the Constitution of People's Republic of China (PRC) * * * The people of China and the citizens of China have freedom of religious belief. No state organ, social organization or individual may compel citizens to believe in or not believe in religion, and may not discriminate against citizens who believe in or not believe in religion. The state protects normal religious activities. No one may use religion to engage in activities that disrupt social order, harm citizens' health or interfere with the national education system. Religious groups and religious affairs are not dominated by foreign forces. China's education policy clearly stipulates that schools teach students Marxist materialism and atheism, disseminate scientific and cultural knowledge, and educate students in patriotism, collectivism and socialism. Any form of religious activities that students engage in at school does not conform to their specific identity and specific environment. It is also incompatible with their glorious task of spreading socialist spiritual civilization and modern scientific and cultural knowledge in the future.
At school, we should vigorously study and publicize materialism and atheism, establish a scientific outlook on life, and do not engage in religious activities. Engaging in any form of religious activities in schools is contrary to the requirements of the Constitution, the Education Law and relevant laws and regulations, and to the principle of separating education from religion determined by Chinese laws.
Socialist schools prohibit any form of religious activities. It is also necessary to ensure citizens' right to religious freedom. When we fully and correctly understand and publicize the right of "freedom of religious belief" given to every citizen by the Constitution, we can't just talk about freedom of religious belief, not about freedom of not believing in religion and promoting atheism. Furthermore, the school must maintain a good and orderly education and teaching order, and must have a set of management rules and regulations to ensure a good education and teaching order. Engaging in religious activities at school, whether organized or spontaneous, whether individual or collective, whether public or private, will affect and interfere with the surrounding students to varying degrees, affect and interfere with the normal learning atmosphere and teaching order. These behaviors will also spread and spread religious consciousness on campus, directly interfere with the education of students' scientific world outlook, outlook on life and values, and destroy the civilized and healthy campus environment. Therefore, religious activities in schools are not allowed.
