Sixteen universities
1952 there are 14 Soviet-style comprehensive universities in China after the major adjustment of departments, namely

Peking University, Nanjing University

Fudan University Nankai University

Wuhan University Shandong University

Sichuan University Jilin University

Xiamen University Lanzhou University

Northwest University of Yunnan University

Sun Yat-sen University Xinjiang University

The distribution of comprehensive universities is a pair of north and south, which is the result of the overall planning of the country.

Two comprehensive universities, Xiangtan University and Inner Mongolia University, founded after fourteen universities, also correspond to the north and the south.

The above sixteen universities are 1978 national key universities under construction 16 comprehensive national key universities.
