Qufu Normal University was founded in 1955, formerly known as Shandong Normal University. 1May, 956, it was upgraded to Qufu Normal University with the approval of the Ministry of Education. In September of the same year, the school moved to Qufu and began the preparatory work for undergraduate education. From September 1970 to April 1974 merged with Shandong University and changed its name to New Shandong University. 1April, 974, Qufu Normal University resumed the school-enterprise relationship.
