Tianjin Medical University (TMU), referred to as Tianjin Medical University for short, was established for Tianjin Municipal People's Government, National Health and Wellness Commission and Ministry of Education. Tianjin Medical University, the predecessor of Tianjin Medical College, was founded in 195 1, which is a higher medical college approved by the Administrative Bureau of the Central People's Government. On June 1994, Tianjin Medical College and Tianjin Second Medical College merged to form Tianjin Medical University.
