Zhejiang University, formerly known as the Academy, was founded in 1897. It is one of the earliest new institutions of higher learning founded by China people themselves. 1952, during the adjustment period of national colleges and universities, it was divided into several single-subject schools, and some departments were merged into brother universities. But the main campus Yuquan campus is the original headquarters of Zhejiang University. From 65438 to 0998, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou University, Zhejiang Agricultural University and Zhejiang Medical University merged to form the new Zhejiang University. This has caused scattered campuses, such as Zijin Port, Huajiachi and Xixi.

Yuquan main campus is dominated by pure engineering, with many graduate students and doctoral students, and many European and American students are also in Yuquan; Xixi Campus is mainly about humanities and media, but Xixi has adult education, and many of them are not students of Zhejiang University, but students who have just studied. Zijingang Campus is the place where new students live, and there are also a large number of graduate students and international students. Huajiachi Campus is an agricultural college; Zhijiang Campus is a law school.
