Xi 'an Academy of Fine Arts, referred to as Messi and Xi Academy of Fine Arts for short, is one of the three major professional fine arts colleges with doctoral degree authorization points in China, ranking third among the eight major fine arts colleges in China. It is the only higher professional art school in northwest China and a provincial-level high-level university in Shaanxi Province.
The school, formerly known as the Second Branch of Northwest People's Art College, was moved from Linfen, Shanxi Province to Anxingguo Temple in July 1949, and was renamed the Art College of Northwest Military and Political University. After the Northwest Academy of Fine Arts and the Northwest Academy of Fine Arts, it was officially named Xi 'an Academy of Fine Arts in May, 1960. In June, the whole college moved to Yanta District, 1994. In 2007, it was rated as "excellent" in the evaluation of undergraduate teaching level by the Ministry of Education. 20 1 1 has been listed in the ranks of high-level university construction in Shaanxi province.
