Nanjing Normal University was founded by Jiangsu Provincial People's Government, China People and China Ministry of Education. It is the first batch of national "2 1 1 Project" key institutions of higher learning, a world-class discipline construction institution and a high-level university capital construction institution in Jiangsu Province. It has been selected as one of the birthplaces of normal education in China for many times for postgraduate study in national high-level universities.

The main source of colleges and universities can be traced back to Sanjiang Normal School founded by 1902, and the other source is Huiwen Private School founded by 1888, which quickly developed into a private Jinling University, and 1984 was renamed Nanjing Normal University. In 2000, Nanjing Institute of Drive Power was incorporated. At present, there are 28 secondary colleges and 2 independent colleges. Nanjing Normal University, located in the capital of Jiangsu Province, is one of the famous normal universities in China, and its comprehensive strength and ability can rank among the top five normal universities in China.

Nanjing Normal University originated from Sanjiang Normal School and was founded in 1902. It participated in the co-creation of the National Central University and was later split. The overall strength of Nanjing Normal University's curriculum is still relatively strong. The fourth subject evaluation includes 25 majors entering Class C and above, among which 6 majors entering Class A and above, namely Class A majors (basic theory of Marxism-Leninism and pedagogy) and Class A courses (China language and literature, foreign languages and literature, ecology and fine arts). Nanjing Normal University has the first batch of 1 "three-round education" comprehensive reform pilot schools of the Ministry of Education.

There are 2 national demonstration centers for teaching experiments, 4 demonstration sites of the first batch of virtual teaching and research groups by the Ministry of Education, the industrialization base for training and research of basic science talents in literature and history in China, the training base for basic science research and classroom teaching talents in science and engineering in China, and the industrialization base for training outstanding students in basic science in China. Colleges and universities continue to promote the development strategy of "educating people", promote the reform of education and teaching, and upgrade the talent training mode. The undergraduate teaching level was rated as excellent by the Ministry of Education.
