The implementation of the "2 1 1" project began at 1995, and the initial number of colleges and universities was 100. With the promotion and development of the project, some colleges and universities have gradually been included in the support category of the "2 1 1" project, and finally 1 16 colleges and universities have been formed. These universities are located in various provinces and cities in China, including Beijing (26 universities), Jiangsu (1 1 universities), Shanghai (10 universities), Shaanxi (8 universities) and Hubei (7 universities), covering important disciplines and research institutions from humanities and social sciences to natural sciences.
