Middle East Technical University (METU/ODTU) is a public university of science and technology, located in Ankara, Turkey. Middle East University of Science and Technology is a national university and one of the most important universities in Turkey. The key disciplines of this university are engineering and natural science. Five departments offer 40 undergraduate courses, and five graduate schools offer 97 master's and 62 doctoral courses. The main campus of Middle East University of Technology covers an area of about 1 1, 100 acres (4,500 hectares), including 7,500 acres (3,000 hectares) of forests in addition to academic and auxiliary facilities. Middle East Technical University has more than 95,000 alumni worldwide. Their teaching language is English. Among the 1000 candidates who scored the highest in the national college entrance examination in Turkey, more than one third chose to enroll in Middle East Technical University. In the past five years, Middle East University of Science and Technology has occupied the most moderate share of the national scientific research fund of the Turkish Scientific and Technological Research Council (TUBITAK). This is a leading university in Turkey participating in the European Union's Framework Plan for Scientific Research (FP). More than 40% undergraduate alumni choose to continue their graduate studies.
