After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, Peking University, Tsinghua University and private Nankai University were demobilized and returned to the north. The Teachers College of National Southwest Associated University was established independently in Kunming and renamed as "National Kunming Teachers College". The campus is located in the headquarters of National Southwest Associated University. After the founding of New China, it was renamed Kunming Normal University, and 1984 Kunming Normal University was renamed Yunnan Normal University.

1On July 7, 937, Japanese imperialism launched the Lugouqiao Incident, and War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression broke out in an all-round way. In order to preserve the educational and cultural lifeline of the Chinese nation, three famous northern universities, the National Peking University, the National Tsinghua University and the private Nankai University, which were originally located in Ping Jin, were forced to move south to Changsha, Hunan Province to form the National Changsha Temporary University. Soon, Nanjing fell, the Japanese army went up the river, and Wuhan shook, endangering Changsha. Changsha Temporary University was forced to move westward to Yunnan,/kloc-0 arrived in Kunming in April, 1938, and was renamed National Southwest Associated University by the Ministry of Education.
