After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, Peking University, Tsinghua University and private Nankai University were demobilized and returned to the north. The Teachers College of National Southwest Associated University was established independently in Kunming and renamed as "National Kunming Teachers College". The campus is located in the headquarters of National Southwest Associated University. After the founding of New China, it was renamed Kunming Normal University, and 1984 Kunming Normal University was renamed Yunnan Normal University.
