Yung wing. Hong Rong is the first China student to graduate from Yale University. He is a pioneer in the cause of overseas students in China and is known as "the father of overseas students in China".

Hong Rong attended a Christian school founded by missionaries in his early years, which was one of the prerequisites for him to study abroad. Later, he was funded by enthusiastic Americans.
