Beijing Foreign Studies University is the first foreign language college founded by China * * * Production Party. Its predecessor was 194 1 Russian team of the third branch of China Anti-Japanese Military and Political University founded in Yan 'an. Later, it developed into a foreign language school of the Central Military Commission, under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee.
After the founding of New China, the school was led by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 1954 was renamed Beijing foreign studies institute, 1959 merged with Beijing Russian institute to form a new Beijing foreign studies institute. 1980 was directly under the leadership of the Ministry of Education, and 1994 was officially renamed Beijing Foreign Studies University.
