Chengdu Jincheng College, formerly known as Chengdu College of Sichuan University, was founded on May 9, 2005. It is an independent college sponsored by Sichuan University with the approval of China People's Ministry of Education. In June, 20021,with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Jincheng College of Sichuan University was transformed into an independent full-time undergraduate college and renamed Chengdu Jincheng College.

At present, the school has three secondary colleges: Finance and Accounting College, Computer and Software College, Electronic Information College, Mechanical Engineering College, Architecture College, Civil and Environmental Engineering College, Literature and Media College, Foreign Languages College, Business Administration College, Finance College and Art College.
At present, there are 57 undergraduate majors, 27 specialist majors and more than 100 majors, forming a school-running pattern of coordinated development of humanities, science, engineering, economics, management and art.
