Jimei University is located in the famous Jimei School Village in Xiamen, China. Jointly built by the Ministry of Transport, the State Oceanic Administration and Fujian Province, it is a key construction university in Fujian Province.
The predecessor of Jimei Normal School was founded by Chen Jiageng, a famous patriotic overseas Chinese leader. Later, the former Jimei Maritime College, Xiamen Fisheries College, Fujian Institute of Physical Education, Jimei College of Finance and Economics and Jimei Teachers College merged to form today's Jimei University.
The campus architecture of the school is a model of modern campus architecture in China, and the new campus of Jimei University has also been selected as one of the "100 Classic Excellent Projects" for the 60th anniversary of the founding of New China, which is the only project selected by universities in China.
