Xiaogan has three universities, namely Hubei Engineering University, New Technology College of Hubei Engineering University and hubei polytechnic institute, among which Hubei Engineering University and New Technology College of Hubei Engineering University are full-time ordinary undergraduate institutions of higher learning.

Xiaogan County, now changed to Xiaogan City, is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Hubei Province, China. Xiaogan county is located in the northeast of Hubei province. North of the Yangtze River and east of Hanshui River. There are Wuhan, the thoroughfare of nine provinces in the south, Xinyang, the south gate of Henan Province in the north, Huanggang in the east and Suizhou, Jingmen, Tianmen and Xiantao in the west.
