Sichuan University was founded in 1896. Sichuan University is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education and the Central Government of China. It ranks among the national 2 1 1 engineering, 985 engineering and double-class key universities. Sichuan University was formed by the merger of Sichuan University, Chengdu University of Technology and West China University of Medical Sciences.

Sichuan University has a complete range of disciplines, covering arts, science, engineering, medicine, economics, management, law, history, philosophy, agriculture, teaching and arts 12, with 35 colleges (departments), graduate schools and overseas education colleges.

At present, it has 47 first-class disciplines authorized by doctoral degrees, 38 professional degree authorization points, 39 post-doctoral mobile stations, 46 national key disciplines, 4 national key training disciplines and 45 national key clinical specialties, and is the first batch of engineering doctoral training units in China.

Three schools coexist:

After the educational system reform of 1922, chengdu normal university of 1926 was split in two. Part of the original Sichuan universities moved back to the south campus to rebuild the National Chengdu University, and the normal part was transformed into the National Chengdu Normal University.

On 1927, five junior colleges merged to form the public Sichuan University, and the seniors of the five colleges (called deans after 1930) formed the university committee of the public Sichuan University, with * * * acting as the president.

The school flag of Sichuan University is red and gray. According to the specific requirements of color application, China red (C: 0m:100y:100k:10) is adopted as the school emblem color, with China red on the top and elegant gray on the bottom, with a height ratio of 7 1:29.

The school emblem on the national flag and the name of the school in Chinese and English (the Chinese name is inscribed by Comrade Deng Xiaoping; English names are printed in white.
