The total collection of books and periodicals in Tianjin University Library is more than 6.5438+0.68 million, forming a collection system with complete disciplines and solid foundation. Among them, there are more than 370,000 books, with 6.5438+0.4 million books, of which Chinese books account for 65% of the total collection, and natural science books account for 75% of the total collection, among which mathematical science, chemistry and engineering technology books are relatively rich; Social science books include books on Marxist-Leninist philosophy, technical economy, industrial management, language and literature and art, accounting for about 25% of the collection. There are 8,000 kinds of Chinese and foreign periodicals with more than 200,000 volumes, mainly in foreign languages, accounting for 72.3%. Natural science journals account for about 93% of the total number of back issues. Some world-famous periodicals have been published in Tibet since their publication, such as Chemical Abstracts since 1907 and ASME Proceedings since 188 1 year.
With the application of modern technology, electronic publications such as CD-ROMs and network databases, as well as various audio-visual and microform materials, attach great importance to document carriers and occupy an increasing proportion in the collection. In the construction of electronic resources, dozens of CDs and online databases such as CA, Ei, Elsevier Science, VIP catalogue and Wan Fang data have been introduced successively, and self-built databases such as doctoral dissertations and environmental science of Tianjin University have been organized.
As an extension of collection and service, the library officially opened the library Web server in April 1998, and provided various network information services through the library's self-built web pages.
After more than 100 years of changes and development, Tianjin University Library has a considerable scale in architecture, books, service facilities and other aspects, and has become one of the largest universities in China.
