Yunnan University for Nationalities, located in Kunming, Yunnan Province, is a comprehensive provincial-level key university approved by the Ministry of Education, the State Ethnic Affairs Commission and the Yunnan Provincial People's Government. Yunnan University for Nationalities was founded in August 195 1, formerly known as Yunnan University for Nationalities, and it is one of the earliest institutions of higher learning for nationalities founded by the people of China. In April 2003, it was renamed Yunnan University for Nationalities.
