Fujian Normal University was formerly known as South China Women's College of Arts and Sciences.

Fujian Normal University (Fujian Normal University for short) is a provincial-level key university jointly established by the Fujian Provincial People's Government and the Ministry of Education, and a national first-class university. The school is located in Fuzhou, with Party Secretary Pan Yuteng and President Wang Changping. The motto of the school is "Unity of knowledge and action, sincerity and broadness".

Fujian Normal University was founded on 1907 by Emperor Chen of Qing Dynasty as "Excellent Normal School in Fujian Province". South China Women's College of Arts and Sciences, Fujian Christian University and Fujian Provincial Teachers College were adjusted and merged several times, and Fujian Normal University was established on 1953, and 1972 was renamed Fujian Normal University, which is still in use today. 20 12 Fujian Normal University was jointly established by the Ministry of Education and the Fujian Provincial People's Government.
