The school is located at siping road 1239, Yangpu District, Shanghai. It is a comprehensive, research-oriented and international university with distinctive characteristics and great influence at home and abroad, and its comprehensive strength ranks among the top universities in China.

Tongji University is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education and jointly established with Shanghai. It is a national "double-class" "2 1 1 Project" and "985 Project" construction university, and was selected as the "National Demonstration Base for Innovative Talents Training" by the Ministry of Science and Technology.
