On the afternoon of July 2 1, with the departure of the Z69 train from Beijing to Urumqi from Beijing West Railway Station, 82 fresh graduates from universities in Beijing where Peking University and China University of Political Science and Law 18 are located set off for the grassroots in the west to volunteer for 1 to 3 years. This also marks the official expedition of 20 17 college students' volunteer service in the western region.

It is reported that in 2065,438+07, nearly 80,000 college graduates from 1876 universities signed up for the "Western Plan". Among the enrolled students, the number of people with bachelor degree or above reached 56,952, accounting for 7 1.9% of the total enrolled students. After multiple procedures such as written examination, interview and physical examination, * * * 18300 volunteers will be sent to their posts before the end of August after attending intensive training in various provinces.

In 2003, the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security jointly implemented the plan of college students' voluntary service in the west. According to the methods of open recruitment, voluntary registration, organization selection and centralized dispatch, a certain number of fresh graduates from ordinary colleges and universities are recruited every year to carry out voluntary services such as education, health, agricultural technology and poverty alleviation in the western grassroots for a period of 1 to 3 years.
