Discipline structure of Southwest University Academy of Fine Arts
The Academy of Fine Arts of Southwest University has a history of nearly 60 years. This major is the dominant discipline of the college, with a strong faculty and academic research team. On this basis, it was approved as 1982 Master of Fine Arts degree awarding point. At present, the main research directions are art theory, art criticism, Chinese painting techniques (landscapes, flowers and birds), oil painting techniques, modern murals and decorative arts, and printmaking.

First, the discipline personnel structure

There are 58 full-time teachers, including 8 professors, 22 associate professors, 9 doctors and 22 masters. At present, the discipline personnel structure has formed a good academic echelon.

Second, the subject direction

1. research on art theory: this direction focuses on art theory and art education research, and pays attention to the development of art science and modern and contemporary art education. In the past, as the research direction of art history theory, a group of teachers such as Shang Mozong, Fu Yiben and Huang Zongxian had a wide influence in the field of art history theory. At the same time, in the direction of art education, the Academy of Fine Arts of Southwest University has become one of the main research bases of art education in China. This foundation provides effective support for the current research direction of artistic principle and practice. Led by Professor Qiu, this direction focuses on the development of art, art criticism and art education, and makes in-depth theoretical discussion and research on art culture, contemporary art criticism and contemporary art education, which has great influence in China at present.

2. Research on Chinese painting techniques: This direction develops in parallel with landscape painting and flower-and-bird painting. Following Mr. Li, Mr. Fu Yiben and Mr. Duan, under the leadership of Chen Hang (landscape) and Li Bailing (flower and bird), he actively explored the modern significance and many frontier issues of landscape painting and flower and bird painting. The direction of landscape painting is mainly ink painting, and the direction of flower-and-bird painting is mainly heavy color painting, each with its own characteristics. While teaching, I also actively participate in various related academic activities, large-scale exhibitions and various publishing projects all over the country.

3. Research on oil painting techniques: This direction, following famous tutors with national influence such as,, and Zhong, and under the guidance of teachers such as Ma Yidan and Liu, actively studies the nationality and contemporariness of oil painting, which has a great influence in major exhibitions and academic exchanges across the country.

4. Research on printmaking: This direction has made a great breakthrough in the pursuit of the nationality of printmaking, especially in the integration of language. After the representatives of the first generation of emerging woodcuts in China, such as Shangmozong, Hu and Zhu Wanfang, they pay attention to printmaking in the printmaking circle headed by Professor Dai, and occupy an important position in the development of contemporary printmaking in China.

5. Research on modern murals and decorative arts: This direction is in the research field of modern murals and decorative arts led by Professor Liu Shuguang, and pays attention to the contemporary visual language of murals after famous tutors such as Professor Zhang Qiwen. At the same time of teaching, it has great influence and important academic position in the field of public art to actively carry out theoretical research and artistic creation, and participate in relevant national academic activities and urban environmental and cultural construction.

The above five representative research directions all have good teaching results and academic research level. In addition to the combination of extensiveness and emphasis in teaching, they also attach importance to practicality according to professional characteristics. During the three-year study period, graduate students not only published papers or works in national or provincial magazines, but also participated in various national and provincial art exhibitions or academic exchanges, and some of their works won prizes in these exhibitions.

(B) Research on Chinese painting techniques

1, Language Exploration of Contemporary Ink and Wash Landscape Painting

This paper starts with the study of the theory and techniques of landscape painting in past dynasties, and takes the occurrence, development and present situation of ink landscape painting in past dynasties as the main object to study. The theme of painting creation is to persist in facing and expressing reality, emphasizing the pursuit of expression language in reality and exploring the artistic creation mode of personal style. Realize the transformation of landscape painting from tradition to modernity.

2. Explore the language of contemporary color flower-and-bird painting.

(1) mainly studies the changes in the techniques of Dunhuang murals, especially the Dunhuang murals in the Tang Dynasty, excavates the missing parts of the murals in this period, and participates in the restoration project of the murals. (2) Based on the traditional mainstream painting techniques, this paper mainly studies the development and changes of the courtyard painting in the Northern Song Dynasty and the flower-and-bird painting in the Yuan and Ming Dynasties under its influence, and explores a new flower-and-bird painting language by combining the manifestations of folk painting;

(c) oil painting technology research

This paper studies the relationship between the artistic language of oil painting and China's artistic spirit, explores the relationship between oil painting art and the development of the times, and insists on the view that artistic view must pay attention to creative practice, so that the study of oil painting art can not only maintain profound ideological connotation, but also show strong personal style and characteristics of the times.

Printing research

First, study the cultural connotation of China's prints. And put it under the background of world culture, absorb the outstanding cultural achievements of human beings, and create China prints with cultural characteristics. Second, pay attention to reality and correctly handle the relationship between personality and sociality, art and life, innovation and discovery. Realize the leap of printmaking art under the new historical conditions.

(5) Research on modern murals and decorative arts.

Based on modern public environment and contemporary culture, this paper explores the relationship between mural art and the development of the times, emphasizes the characteristics and connotation of mural art, explores the diversity of expression language and the comprehensiveness of material application, and studies the public value, public art and urban culture, public art and public space, and environmental aesthetic form of mural painting.

Four. Scientific research work to be carried out, main contents, characteristics and innovations.

(1) Art Theory and Art Criticism

We will continue to study the principles of art education and the theoretical topics of art teaching, and enjoy the resources of doctoral education in school education during the research process, so that the research of art education is more forward-looking and cutting-edge. Combined with the research topic of art education being carried out by the Ministry of Education, based on the research of western art education, this paper provides theoretical support for the development of western art education.

(B) Research on Chinese painting techniques

1, landscape painting research

The exploration of the research direction of landscape painting returns the performance of landscape painting from the habitual way of traditional expression language to the performance of new areas in real life, that is, to explore the essence of beauty in plain, and at the same time to promote the unique style of landscape painting by using the inevitable new techniques brought by new content, while insisting on the exploration of ink and wash (black and white) performance, which makes this painting technique with national characteristics more meaningful today. It also fundamentally broke through the content and form of ink and wash landscape painting, thus forming the unique painting style of contemporary China landscape painting.

2. Research on flower-and-bird painting

(1) Based on the study of Dunhuang murals in the Tang Dynasty, the murals in the Song Dynasty were further compared with institutional paintings and folk paintings in the Northern Song Dynasty. At the same time, it makes a longitudinal comparative study on the styles of Dunhuang murals in different stages. The scope includes the evolution of description techniques, modeling, content and artistic style. At the same time, the creation of Dunhuang modern grottoes began. Create Dunhuang art 600 years ago. (2) On the basis of studying the traditional flower-and-bird painting, explore the flower-and-bird painting with the color of the times.

(c) oil painting technology research

Continue to grasp the national spirit of contemporary China oil paintings. And this idea runs through teaching, scientific research and creation, so that oil painting creation is based on the local land and rooted in the times, forming distinctive regional characteristics and characteristics of the times.

Printing research

While studying the pure expression language of printmaking, we should also study the inner spiritual connotation of printmaking, so as to shorten the living distance and emotional distance between the works and the audience, win the audience, constantly gain new perception, thinking, materials, inspiration, passion and strength, create unique art, and promote the development of China printmaking art.

(5) Research on modern murals and decorative arts.

Continue to pay attention to the study of visual language of murals, and integrate this research into the background of contemporary public art for theoretical research and creative practice. Explore the aesthetic characteristics and spiritual attributes of mural art, so that it can turn from the simple mural work level to the cultural construction of people's living space, so as to make mural art alive and make a fundamental breakthrough in the content and form of expression.
