Huainan Union University, founded in September 1984, is a comprehensive college sponsored by the Huainan Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, a construction unit of local skilled high-level universities in Anhui Province, and the chairman and secretariat unit of Huainan Vocational Education Group.

1997 and 2004, the school successively integrated the educational resources of Anhui Radio and TV University Huainan Branch and Huainan Workers College, and implemented the "one school, three cards" school-running system. In 2022, Anhui Radio and TV University Huainan Branch was renamed Huainan Open University. In 2022, Huainan started the integration of vocational education resources, and eight secondary vocational schools, including Huainan Health School and Huainan Transportation Secondary School, were merged into our school.

The school has 3 campuses in Tianjiaan District, 2 campuses in Vocational Education Park of High-tech Zone and 1 campus in panji district, covering an area of about 1.600 mu. There are seven colleges including Intelligent Manufacturing College, school of economics and management College, Pharmacy and Materials College, Humanities and Foreign Languages College, Information Engineering College, Architecture and Art College, Medical College, Continuing Education College and Public Education College.

There are four teaching institutions, such as Marxist Institute and technical secondary school, and three subordinate technical secondary schools. 1 Municipal Affiliated Hospital (Huainan Third People's Hospital).

At present, there are more than 23,000 students in our school. Among them, there are more than 3,000 students in ordinary higher vocational colleges/KLOC-0, nearly 2,000 students in five-year compulsory secondary vocational schools, and more than 8,000 students in RTVU and adult education. There are 570 full-time teachers in this department. Among them, professor 16, associate professor 156, senior engineer and other deputy senior titles, 70% are full-time teachers with master's degree or above, and 80% are "double-qualified" teachers at all levels.
