Do college students need to know politics to be rational and patriotic?
Young people's patriotic enthusiasm

College students are very concerned about politics. In my more than 30 years of work, countless great events have taken place at home and abroad. When it comes to China, some college students show great patriotic enthusiasm. This is a good thing. If a country's young intellectuals don't care about its future and destiny, it really has no future. Therefore, college students must care about politics. However, political issues are much more complicated than some daily life issues, especially some political issues related to the fundamental interests of the country, which will affect the overall situation of the country if not handled well. College students' patriotism should be fully affirmed, but when encountering major political problems, we should first calm down and think seriously, and never get emotional.

the Diaoyu Islands issue

For some time, the Diaoyu Islands issue has aroused great concern of Chinese people and become a hot topic among college students. Not only heated discussion, but also some college students took to the streets and expressed strong dissatisfaction with the behavior of the Japanese government. In my conversation with college students, I asked them such a question: "If there are only two countries on the earth, China and Japan, will there be the Diaoyu Islands problem?" I said that I can definitely answer absolutely not, and I believe that college students will come to such a conclusion. Why? The reason is simple: Japan is an island country with 65438+29 million people living on 378,000 square kilometers of land. The population density is too high and resources are scarce. Only by this, we have to rely on China to survive. How dare Japan say that Diaoyu Island is ours? So what should college students learn from the emergence of the Diaoyu Islands issue? What I want to communicate with college students here is that college students should not only care about politics, but also understand politics. When great events happen between countries, we must first sort out the complicated international relations in today's world, face them calmly and be rational and patriotic. To be sure, the Diaoyu Islands issue is by no means isolated, because China and Japan are not the only two countries in the world. Since the emergence of the political structure of "one ball, two systems", the relationship between countries in the world, especially those that adhere to the socialist system and take the capitalist road, has become more complicated. There is a precedent here to support my point of view by citing such a major political event in history.

The Second World War

As we all know, from1September 19391-1September 2, 1945, World War II broke out in human history. The scale of this war is enormous: from Europe to Asia, from the Atlantic to the Pacific, there are 6 1 countries and regions, and more than 2 billion people are involved. The combat area is 22 million square kilometers. According to incomplete statistics, more than 90 million soldiers and civilians were killed or injured in the war. The executioner of this war is a fascist axis country headed by Germany, Italy and Japan. During the war, Nait elements established concentration camps to isolate and imprison dissidents, overseas Chinese in enemy countries and members of a certain ethnic, religious or political belief group in an isolated facility. Auschwitz concentration camp, established in 1940, is the largest concentration camp in Germany, mainly holding Jews from Poland and Germany. The Nazis set up a large-scale comprehensive extinction facility here, including a "bathroom" for killing people with poison gas, a corpse cellar for storing corpses and a corpse incinerator. , exterminate the Jews. The Nazis also selected prisoners to do medical experiments, such as testing convenient sterilization methods and performing vivisection on twins. About 4 million people were killed in this concentration camp alone. Japanese fascists also committed heinous crimes in China, carrying out the barbaric "three-light policy", taking pleasure in engaging in murder competitions and carrying out the "Nanjing Massacre". The atrocious crimes of fascism are outrageous. "The more help you get, the less help you get." Justice will eventually win, and evil will inevitably perish. The result of World War II ended with the United States, the Soviet Union, China, Britain and other anti-fascist countries and the people of the world defeating the fascist aggressors to win world peace and progress.
