The abbreviation of "Chuannong" is a key agricultural and forestry university sponsored by the Sichuan Provincial People's Government and headed by the Sichuan Provincial Department of Education. It is one of the national "2 1 1 engineering" construction institutions and was selected.

The school can be traced back to the "Sichuan Tongsheng Agricultural School" founded in Chengdu in 1906. The school was formerly the Agricultural College of Sichuan University. 1956, the Agricultural College of Sichuan University moved to Ya 'an to run a school and was named "Sichuan Agricultural College"; 1985, the school was renamed Sichuan Agricultural University.
