The overall planning and construction of Guangzhou University Town was officially started in June 2003, and the first phase of the project was officially completed in June 2003. September 2004 1, the first phase entered ten universities, namely: Sun Yat-sen University, South China University of Technology, South China Normal University, Guangzhou University, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, Guangdong Pharmaceutical University, Guangdong University of Technology, Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts and Xinghai Conservatory of Music.
Jinan University and Guangzhou Medical University settled in the second phase of Guangzhou University Town.
General situation of Panyu district
Panyu District is a municipal district of Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, located in the south-central part of Guangzhou, in the geographical center of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, adjacent to Hong Kong and Macao, Haizhu District of Guangzhou in the north, Shiziyang in the east, Dongguan across the river in the west, Nanhai District and Shunde District of Foshan City in the west, the Pearl River Estuary in the south and Nansha District in the south.
Panyu was established in the thirty-third year of Qin Shihuang (2 14 BC). It is an important birthplace of Lingnan culture and one of the starting points of the Maritime Silk Road. Guangdong architecture, Lingnan school of painting, Cantonese opera and Guangdong music have a long history, as well as folk arts such as fish dance, floating color, begging for cleverness and lion awakening.
