Guizhou University, Da Gui for short, is located in Guiyang, Guizhou Province. It is a university directly under the Ministry of Education and Guizhou Provincial People's Government, a key university with one province and one school, a scholarship institution for overseas students of China Government, a scholarship institution for Confucius Institute, a national demonstration university for deepening the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship education, and a pilot unit for comprehensive reform of the Ministry of Education.

Guizhou University was founded in 1902. After the establishment of Guizhou University, provincial Guizhou University, National Guizhou College of Agriculture and Industry and National Guizhou University, 1950 was named Guizhou University, and merged with Guizhou Agricultural College and other institutions in August 1997 and Guizhou University of Technology in August 2004.
