The School of Environment and Civil Engineering of Jiangnan University was established in 2007, which was formed by the integration of the Department of Environmental Science and Engineering of the former College of Bioengineering and the College of Civil Engineering. There are 34 full-time teachers in the college, including 6 professors, accounting for 17.65%, and 24 associate professors, accounting for 70.59%. Teachers with doctoral degrees 16, accounting for 47.06%, and teachers with master degrees 10, accounting for 29.45438+0%; The college also has a number of teachers with the qualifications of "333 Project" discipline leader, outstanding young backbone teachers in Jiangsu Province, environmental impact assessment engineer, registered structural engineer, registered architect, registered supervision engineer and registered cost engineer.

College has become one of the important research units in the fields of environmental science and engineering, civil engineering and project management in domestic universities through distinctive research direction setting, high-level and high-level teaching staff construction, purchase and construction of advanced experimental instruments, establishment of perfect education and training system and rich academic exchanges at home and abroad. The College has successively undertaken and completed more than 40 national, ministerial and provincial scientific research projects such as the National "863 Plan" and the National Natural Science Foundation, won 28 national invention patents, published more than 700 academic papers at home and abroad, and completed nearly 50 engineering projects entrusted by enterprises. The College has also established the Wuxi Planning Environmental Impact Assessment Center and the Wuxi Taihu Lake Water Ecological Restoration and Protection Research Center in cooperation with Wuxi City, which have built a higher and better platform for scientific and technological innovation and social services.

The college has three undergraduate majors: environmental engineering, civil engineering and engineering management. The college also has doctoral programs and master programs in environmental engineering, and the leaders of related disciplines are professors or young scholars who have great influence in domestic academic circles.

Environmental engineering major: Environmental issues are important strategic issues related to the survival and development of human beings and the sustainable development of national economy. As early as 1983, Jiangnan University took the lead in establishing an environmental biotechnology laboratory in China through the optimization and reorganization of scientific research strength, aiming at realizing the mutual penetration of biology, environmental science, ecology, engineering and other disciplines, and devoting itself to studying and solving regional and national environmental problems by biological means. At present, the discipline of environmental engineering in Jiangnan University is a characteristic specialty in Jiangsu Province and a key construction discipline in Jiangnan University. Its main research direction is: (1) water pollution control engineering. It mainly includes research and development of new anaerobic and aerobic biological treatment reactors, research on microbial mechanism of wastewater biological treatment process, membrane biological treatment technology, and research on engineering technology of refractory wastewater treatment. (2) Recycling technology of organic solid waste. It mainly includes new technologies for harmless and resource utilization of organic wastes such as municipal sludge, agricultural biomass and municipal solid waste. (3) New energy and energy saving and emission reduction technologies. It mainly includes bioenergy and organic waste energy technology, and cleaner production technology in the process of biological products; (4) Biosynthesis of environmentally friendly materials. It mainly includes the biosynthesis of important environmental protection enzyme preparations and the synthesis technology of biopolymer materials; (5) Water resources protection and ecological construction. It mainly includes the protection and restoration technology of water resources in lakes and rivers, the restoration technology of lake shore ecology and polluted soil; (6) Environmental and ecological effects of typical pollutants and rare earths. It mainly includes the environmental and ecological effects of typical pollution, the study of rare earth ecotoxicology and the environmental and ecological effects of rare earth.

Civil engineering major: the main research direction of civil engineering discipline is: (1) urban engineering disaster prevention and mitigation and protection engineering. (2) Dynamic catastrophe mechanism and control of major engineering structures. (3) Disaster prevention, mitigation and control of geotechnical engineering in complex environment. Based on the principle of "wide caliber, strong foundation and heavy capacity", civil engineering majors train students to master basic theories and knowledge of structure, geotechnical engineering, bridges and tunnels, municipal engineering, disaster prevention and mitigation, protection engineering, etc., and train students to obtain basic training of registered engineers and have the ability to engage in civil engineering project planning, design, construction management, technical management and research and development. The main courses are: theoretical mechanics, material mechanics, structural mechanics, fluid mechanics, soil mechanics, surveying, building architecture, civil engineering materials, concrete structure, steel structure, civil engineering construction technology, special structure, construction enterprise management and engineering economy. After graduation, students can go to various architectural design and research departments, construction enterprises, construction management departments, foreign construction engineering contracting companies, traffic engineering departments, real estate development companies and other units to engage in the planning, design, construction, management, investment, development and research of housing construction, bridges, roads, municipal engineering and other engineering fields.

Engineering management major: to cultivate compound senior management talents with basic knowledge of management, economics and civil engineering technology, master the theories, methods and means of modern management disciplines, and be able to engage in project decision-making and whole-process management in the field of engineering construction at home and abroad. The main courses are: management, applied statistics, operational research, accounting, financial management, engineering economics, marketing, computer application, economics, project management, project evaluation, contract management, real estate development and management, project financing, introduction to civil engineering, engineering mechanics, engineering structure, engineering construction, etc. Graduates of this major can be competent for the planning, management, investment and development of construction enterprises and their management departments, engineering project management departments, engineering project consulting companies, real estate development companies and other units.
