I. Historical evolution

Law School of Shanghai University, formerly known as Intellectual Property College of Shanghai University, can be traced back to the Law Department of Fudan University Branch established in 1978, and the Intellectual Property Teaching and Research Center of University of Shanghai for Science and Technology and Shanghai Joint Research Institute of Science and Technology Law established in 1988.

The Law Department of Fudan University Branch is the earliest institution in Shanghai, and it is also one of the earliest institutions in China to resume and carry out law teaching and research after the Cultural Revolution. From 65438 to 0985, the branches of Fudan University, East China Normal University and Shanghai International Studies University merged to form the original Shanghai University. The former Fudan University Branch became the College of Literature of Shanghai University, and the Department was renamed the Law Department of the College of Literature of Shanghai University. 1993 Shanghai Law School (merged with Shanghai School of Political Science and Law Management) joined the former Shanghai University, which was called Shanghai University Law School, and the Law Department of the College of Literature was renamed the Foreign Economic Law Department of the College of Literature. 1998 10 the foreign economic law department of the former college was further merged with the former intellectual property college to form a new intellectual property college.

The Intellectual Property Teaching and Research Center of University of Shanghai for Science and Technology was established in 1988 and 199 1 year. Together with Fudan University, East China University of Political Science and Law, Shanghai University of Science and Technology, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences and Law, the Center established the Shanghai Joint Research Institute of Science, Technology and Law, with Fang Minglun, the executive vice president, as the dean, and the headquarters of the institute is located in. 1In May, 1994, the former University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, Shanghai University and Shanghai Institute of Science and Technology merged to form a new Shanghai University. In September of that year, with the personal advocacy and contact of President Qian Weichang, Mr. Huang, the chairman of Hongkong Starlight Paging Group, donated 2 million yuan each in the first phase of that year, and the contract stipulated that another donation of 1 10,000 yuan would be made every year for the next ten years to establish intellectual property colleges in Peking University and Shanghai University. In 2004, the former Shanghai University Law School (merged with Shanghai School of Political Science and Law Management, located in Yemabang, Qingpu) established Shanghai Law School independently. After discussion, the Party Committee of Shanghai University appointed Professor Wang Weiguo as the dean and reorganized the New Law School of Shanghai University. The address is the fourth floor of Building B, Shanghai University Headquarters Complex Building, No.99 Shenlu Road, Baoshan District.

Second, the development status quo

Shanghai University Law School consists of Intellectual Property College, Law Department and Financial Law Department. In addition, there are comparative law research centers and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan law research centers. At present, there are three master of laws degree awarding points (legal theory, constitution and administrative law, criminal law), 1 undergraduate legal major (with three directions of financial law, intellectual property law and criminal justice), 1 second bachelor's degree legal major, 1 adult education legal major. There are nearly 600 undergraduates, more than 30 graduate students/kloc-0, and hundreds of adult students in our college. Over the years, we have opened dozens of courses, such as basic courses of law, professional basic courses and intellectual property rights, at five levels: undergraduate, double-major, postgraduate and in-service postgraduate, and completed a number of scientific research works and other achievements with theoretical significance and application value.

The Intellectual Property Institute affiliated to the Institute is one of the two earliest intellectual property institutes established in Chinese universities (the other is Peking University Intellectual Property Institute). It is a law school that conducts law teaching and research, featuring the teaching and research of intellectual property law. Since the establishment of 1994, the Intellectual Property Institute has trained more than 1000 undergraduates and 1000 dual-disciplinary undergraduates. Since 1996, hundreds of graduate students have been and are being trained in the fields of philosophy of law, legal culture, sociology of law, legal methodology, criminology, criminal law protection of intellectual property rights, judicial psychology, comparative administrative law, intellectual property law, finance and tax law, constitution and civil rights; At the same time, in-service postgraduate courses in intellectual property management and intellectual property courses for the whole school were held, which trained tens of thousands of intellectual property talents for the society.

The major direction of financial law offered by the College of Financial Law is to adapt to the development of socialist market economy and build Shanghai into a domestic and international financial center. After completing the main courses of general law in the third year of college, students will further study the basic principles, basic operational knowledge and professional courses of financial laws and regulations and their financial and capital market principles. On the basis of understanding and being familiar with the general knowledge of finance, accounting and capital market operation, we will comprehensively study and master banking law, securities law, accounting law, insurance law, trust law, negotiable instrument law, company law and bankruptcy law, lawyer practice of financial securities industry, legal practice of listed companies and related professional legal knowledge, and become a compound professional with both practical operation and professional legal literacy in the financial industry.

The college has an excellent faculty with professors and associate professors as the backbone and rich experience in teaching, scientific research and judicial practice, and has undertaken a number of national, provincial and ministerial scientific research projects and legislative topics of municipal legislatures. Intellectual Property Institute is the earliest undergraduate teaching unit in China to recruit students to study and study intellectual property law and management. The Department of Foreign Economic Law of Chung Yuan Christian University was the earliest unit in Shanghai to resume and carry out law teaching and research after the Cultural Revolution. In the past two decades, it has trained a large number of outstanding legal talents for the judicial department, and many famous judges, prosecutors and lawyers in Shanghai have graduated from this department.

The college attaches importance to academic research and discipline construction, and to cultivating students' ability to analyze and think about problems with legal knowledge. By conducting speech contests, debate contests and mock court trials, students' agile thinking, reaction ability and eloquence are cultivated. Students will be proficient in a foreign language. The college employs a group of famous scholars and experts at home and abroad as part-time professors, and invites foreign experts and scholars to give lectures and conduct academic exchanges from time to time. Over the years, the college has made many achievements in teaching and scientific research, which has produced considerable social impact.

The employment orientation of college graduates is mainly courts, procuratorates, law firms, patent and trademark offices, government administrative departments at all levels, customs, border inspection, foreign trade departments, foreign-funded enterprises, banks and other enterprises and institutions.

Third, the discipline development plan

According to the overall orientation and strategic objectives of Shanghai University, the economic, social and cultural development plan of Shanghai and the Yangtze River Delta region in the new century, and the current situation and possible development conditions of the college, after many studies and discussions, the Law School put forward the following development goals: carrying forward the school spirit of "self-improvement, seeking truth from facts, pioneering and innovating", dismantling the "four walls", "adhering to the two centers of teaching and scientific research" and "cultivating a person with all-round development and innovative spirit. Keep pace with the times, be determined to innovate, assess the situation, foster strengths and avoid weaknesses, gather strength, focus on breakthroughs, serve Shanghai, radiate the "Yangtze River Delta", face the whole country, and regard intellectual property law and financial law as the growing point and supporting point of the discipline; Form characteristics, cultivate characteristics, build commanding heights, take discipline construction as the leading factor, take undergraduate teaching as the center, and closely combine teaching with scientific research. At the same time, actively and steadily introduce and use original foreign language textbooks, offer multimedia courses and bilingual courses, make every effort to improve the teaching quality of undergraduate and graduate students, and cultivate high-quality legal talents with extensive basic knowledge, distinctive professional characteristics and good at research and practice. By 20 10, a distinctive teaching system will be formed, in which scientific research leads teaching, teaching permeates scientific research and embodies the characteristics of research-oriented colleges.

(3) Team building objectives

At present, the law school has more than 40 faculty members, including 30 professional teachers, who undertake the tasks of undergraduate, graduate and adult education. Through the "two-pronged" measures of vigorously improving the existing teachers' level and accelerating the introduction of outstanding talents, the college will establish a teaching and scientific research "Walk with Me" with a basic scale of more than 50 people, an average age of less than 40 years old, a doctoral degree ratio of more than 30%, a domestic well-known scholar ratio of more than 10% and a reasonable distribution of talents in various disciplines.
