On August 17, I learned from many students in Tsinghua University that the sundial, located at the southern end of the lawn in front of the school auditorium, between Tsinghua University and the second teaching building, was marked. The traces depicted are located in the upper part of the brick wall, with more than a dozen strokes, which are pale white on the brick wall and very abrupt.

According to records, the sundial, a classical timer located at the southern end of the lawn in front of the school auditorium, was originally a relic of Yuanmingyuan and was given to his alma mater when he graduated from1920th. On the lower pedestal of this sundial, the inscription of Class 1920 is engraved: "Actions speak louder than words." There are two languages: Chinese and Latin.

Class 1920 is one of the excellent graduation grades in Tsinghua University. Famous economists, chemists Zeng Zhaolun, Su Bentie, Zhao, botanist and political scientist Hsiao Kung chuan all came from this grade. /kloc-in the spring of 0/920, on the eve of Geng's graduation, we discussed making a souvenir for our alma mater. After repeated consultations, we decided on the sundial plan. It can be used as a reference for students to be punctual in class, and it also contains the meaning of cherishing yin, that is, an inch of time and an inch of gold.

Tsinghua University 20 1 1 Centennial Celebration, and the Pledging Ceremony of the Sundial Fund was also held at the Centennial Commemorative Meeting of Graduate Alumni. 1960 Alumni Zheng Zhijia read the donation proposal of the sundial fund. It is suggested that graduate students donate to set up a special fund for the construction of new sundial sculptures, which is mainly used for the construction and later maintenance of new sundial sculptures.

In order to protect the old sundial, it will be put into the school history museum and replaced by an original replica. According to the staff, due to severe weathering and the fact that the old sundial has been repaired several times before, it is impossible to repair the old sundial now, so the school made this move.

The old sundial is not a legal "cultural relic", but it is a symbol of Tsinghua University. In order to protect the sundial, it is unrealistic to add fences and other measures. More people like to be near the sundial, and schools don't want to interfere. Although it will be placed in the school history museum, it will be open to the public after it is fully completed in the future, and everyone can still see it. Its cultural bearing role is still there.
