The college has five undergraduate majors: textile engineering, light chemical engineering, fashion design and technology, textile design and fashion performance. There are two doctoral programs in textile engineering and pulp and paper engineering, and two master programs in textile engineering and clothing design and engineering. Textile science and engineering is one of the key disciplines of "2 1 1 engineering" in Jiangnan University. During the Tenth Five-Year Plan period, the school invested more than RMB1100,000 and introduced a large number of advanced instruments and equipment, which greatly improved the teaching and scientific research conditions of this discipline and laid a solid foundation for the construction and development of this discipline. In 2004, the national evaluation of textile science and engineering ranked fourth, and textile engineering ranked second.

In teaching, the college has three departments of textile engineering, light chemical engineering, clothing design and engineering, and five laboratories of textile materials, textile processing, clothing technology, light chemical engineering and computer application. In terms of scientific research and discipline construction, the college has a textile science and engineering research center and 20 research rooms. It has established a scientific and reasonable base for undergraduate and postgraduate education and scientific research.
