Ewha Women's University, formerly known as Ewha School, was named by Emperor Gaozong and Empress Mingcheng of North Korea to commemorate the wife of scranton, a Methodist doctor who was the first to carry out women's education in North Korea at that time. 1948 was renamed Ewha Women's University.
