Committed to expanding the library's in-depth work and improving the library's service level, we opened postgraduate information science courses, began to recruit master students of "information science research and application", and actively applied for various literature and information research projects, with more than ten projects under research, among which the pig breeding database won the third prize of CALIS National University Characteristic Database Project Construction. At the same time, the high-quality characteristic information resources of the whole school are being integrated, and the characteristic database group including the professional information resources of national key disciplines is being built. Now some characteristic databases have been published and used. Subject librarian system provides counterpart services for departments in the mode of subject librarian-professor of library and information science, and provides more extensive and in-depth services for departments in subject navigation, subject tracking, electronic resource utilization training, literature recommendation and evaluation.

We take "reader first, service first" as our purpose, and strive to continuously improve the level of information service. In 2007, SCI database was first introduced in agricultural and forestry universities nationwide, and SCI service center was established to better carry out personalized service based on SCI. It adopts the integrated lending management mode, which is open for nearly 90 hours every week. The electronic resources of the library are open 24 hours a day, and each department is equipped with a subject librarian to provide subject services embedded in the whole process of scientific research, such as resource recommendation, sci-tech novelty retrieval, retrieval and citation, subject tracking, etc., and at the same time provide information services such as virtual reference consultation and document delivery for teachers and students of the whole school.

As the "second classroom of the school", the library opened the first undergraduate general course "Literature Retrieval" at 1987. Up to now, six related courses have been offered for undergraduates and postgraduates to improve students' information literacy, and special lectures are held regularly for masters, doctoral students, freshmen and new teachers. In 20 13, the subject service team of the library set up a team of scientific research information specialists among doctors and doctoral students, which not only improved students' information literacy, but also helped teachers and students in departments to establish a smooth channel of "demand" and "guarantee" and built a communication bridge between resources and services of colleges and libraries. Due to the attention and support of the school and the efforts of all the staff, the construction and development of the library has made remarkable achievements, and it has been successively recognized as "excellent library of colleges and universities in Hubei Province", B-level member library of CALIS Chinese joint cataloging (one of the three B-level member libraries in Central China) and "excellent library automation evaluation" in Hubei Province.

During the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" period, the library of Huazhong Agricultural University will closely focus on the overall development goal of the school, use modern technology and scientific management means, further strengthen the network and digital construction of the library, and adhere to the scientific, standardized and standardized management mode; Further intensify the construction of literature resources, deepen the construction of a literature resource system featuring agriculture and life sciences, and strive to build our library into a modern library with distinctive features, scientific management, complete functions, excellent service and beautiful environment, which can meet the needs of readers to the greatest extent. At the same time, we should aim at the forefront of modern library development, deepen reform, explore and innovate, and gradually build a modern and open library suitable for research universities.
