Cai Yuanpei's inspirational story
Cai Yuanpei often studied upstairs when he was a child. One night, his building caught fire and the whole family was frightened. Suddenly, he thought of Cai Yuanpei, who was studying upstairs, and everyone quickly called him downstairs. At this point, Cai Yuanpei has got into the book, ignored everyone, and still buried himself in reading. The family had to quickly pull him out of the upstairs, so he was still reading a book in his hand and never came out of it again. Seeing his extremely calm expression, everyone was moved by his reading spirit.

Reading is so calm that I'm afraid most of us can't reach this level.

Cai Yuanpei, from the age of 6 to 17, studied in a private school for ten years and laid a solid foundation. From the age of 20 to 23, I have the opportunity to go to the home of Xu Shulan, the richest man in Shaoxing City, to do school books and classes, and to study with Xu's younger brother. Xu Shulan is the richest man in Shaoxing. In the sixth year of Guangxu, he donated 100,000 yuan to build a house and buy books, and founded the Gu Yue Library. Faced with so many books and proofreading, he got into the pile of books at once. Four years of intensive reading has made his knowledge of Chinese studies extensive and profound.

In order to learn western cultural knowledge, he studied foreign languages and made preparations for nine years. When the time was ripe, at the age of 465,438+0, he went to Germany and began his work-study program, studying foreign philosophy, literature, civilization history, anthropology and so on. As long as the time does not conflict, he will learn while listening. He studied in Germany for five or six years. At the age of 46, he returned to China as the chief of education. The political situation is unstable. Disappointed, he resigned as the chief of education and continued to study in Germany and France. It was not until 5 1 year-old was hired as the principal of Peking University that he returned to China.

Cai Yuanpei was the president of Peking University for ten years and went to study in western European countries four times. During his ten years in Peking University, he spent more than six years studying abroad. Among the foreign disciplines, he likes psychology and aesthetics best. So much so that when he was seriously ill in bed, he wanted to study. He said that if he was given another ten years, he would definitely study psychology and aesthetics again. Cai Yuanpei's lifelong learning spirit is an example for us to learn.

As Cai Yuanpei himself said, it is difficult for a person to succeed if he studies properly and has the spirit of being admitted. Read poetry books and learn Chinese and western. Whether studying in a private school in the early days or studying abroad many times as an adult, it is "studying with one heart". It is this concentrated reading that enabled him to master the knowledge of China and the West and all disciplines at all times and in all countries, thus laying a good foundation for his "free and inclusive" management as the president of Peking University. It's the same for us. What can't we do if we turn passive learning into active "reading" and really put ourselves into it?
