China University of Political Science and Law is a multi-disciplinary research university with the characteristics of law, philosophy, economics, literature, science, management and other disciplines, directly under the Ministry of Education. The school has two campuses, Xueyuan Road in Haidian District and Fu Xue Road in Changping District.
The school, formerly known as Beijing University of Political Science and Law, was founded on 1952 by the disciplines of law, political science and sociology of Peking University, Tsinghua University, yenching university and Fu Jen Catholic University. The address of the school was the Red House of Peking University at that time. 1954, the school moved to Xueyuan Road.
1983 Beijing University of Political Science and Law merged with the Central Cadre College of Political Science and Law to form China University of Political Science and Law. 1985, the school opened a new campus in Changping campus, and the school formed a school, an undergraduate course, a graduate school and a graduate school. After the graduate school, it was renamed the Central School of Political Science and Law Management, and it was independent. In 2000, it was merged into China University of Political Science and Law.
By March 2022, China University of Political Science and Law had Changping Campus and Haidian Campus, with teaching and administrative rooms 173722 square meters and 2.466 million paper documents. The school has 19 teaching units, 26 undergraduate majors, 39 doctoral degree authorization points, 76 master degree authorization points,1/professional master degree authorization points, and 4 post-doctoral research stations.

Law, political science, Marxist theory and theoretical economics are the first-class disciplines authorized for doctoral degrees, philosophy, applied economics, sociology, psychology, foreign languages and literature, journalism and communication.
The history of China, business administration and public administration are the first-class disciplines authorized by the master, among which law is the national first-class discipline and political science is the Beijing first-class discipline. Evidence science was selected into the list of high-tech disciplines in Beijing universities. In the fourth round of discipline evaluation, nine first-level disciplines of the school participated in the evaluation and all of them were on the list, among which law entered the A+ file.
