School of Electrical and Information Engineering, formerly known as the Department of Control Engineering, was founded in 1978 and renamed as the Department of Information and Control Engineering in 1999, and was founded in 2004. It is one of the earliest, strongest and largest departments of Zhengzhou Institute of Light Industry. The School of Electrical and Information Engineering now holds the post of distinguished professor at the provincial level, and has four provincial-level key disciplines: electrical machinery and electrical appliances, detection technology and automation devices, information and signal processing, and measurement technology and instruments. There are six master's degree authorization points, including detection technology and automation device, test and measurement technology and instrument, motor and electrical appliance, electrical theory and new technology, control theory and control engineering, signal and information processing, and seven basic teaching units, including automation department, electrical engineering and its automation department, electronic information engineering department, building electrical and intelligent department, electronic information center, electrical and electronic training center and electrical engineering experiment center. Electrical machinery and electrical appliances is the earliest discipline of Zhengzhou Institute of Light Industry and a provincial key discipline. The college pays attention to the construction of experimental platform, and has several research and training centers, including Henan Key Laboratory of Information and Electrical Appliances, Zhengzhou Key Laboratory of Information and Electrical Appliances, National PROFIUBS/PROFINET Technical Training Center, Institute of Electrical Automation, IEC 611-3 National Training Center and 12 Modern Laboratory, covering an area of 5,000. Electronic Information Center is the platform of information specialty in the whole hospital, which undertakes the experiments of electronic circuit electrotechnics, EDA and other courses. Electrical and electronic training center is a comprehensive experimental platform for the whole hospital; Professional laboratories include building automation laboratory, single chip microcomputer laboratory, motor laboratory, high frequency signal and system laboratory, etc. A fuzzy control technology center has been established, focusing on the combination of Industry-University-Research, and a domestic leading production line of home appliance controllers has been established.

The Institute of Electrical and Information Engineering has a strong scientific research force, forming a distinct advantage and research direction. In recent years, it has undertaken 8 national natural fund projects, 6 other national projects and more than 30 provincial and ministerial projects, and won the second prize of national scientific and technological progress 1 and more than 0 provincial and ministerial awards1. He has published more than 500 papers, more than 30 textbooks and monographs in influential academic journals at home and abroad, focusing on research.

The Institute of Electrical Information Engineering seized the opportunity of developing digital information household appliances in time, and successively applied for successful national scientific research projects-research on household appliances informatization and research and development of embedded home network central controller, which became a highlight of information household appliances research.
