School of Computer and Information Technology of Shanxi University, formerly known as Computer Science Department, was established in 1980, which is one of the earliest computer departments in China. The college has 10 classrooms, including 4 multimedia classrooms. The laboratory area is1450m2. 327 minicomputers, workstations, microcomputers and other scientific research and teaching equipment. The experimental conditions have reached the first-class level of computer science in Shanxi Province. The library has 20,000 computer science books and 45 domestic and foreign periodicals.

Main research directions:

Theory and method of intelligent computing: Aiming at the core problems such as data dimensionality reduction, feature selection, clustering classification and complex problem solving in high-dimensional complex data modeling and analysis, new theories and algorithms of intelligent computing are studied.

Chinese information processing: mainly studies the model and method of text information processing, Chinese framework network, resource base construction and special application software.

Machine learning: focus on new machine learning theory, modeling based on support vector machine, image processing, bioinformatics and other theories and methods.

Database technology and application: Focus on the theoretical and applied research of new database, and provide theoretical and technical support for Web-based distributed information processing and enterprise information construction.

Network and information security: focus on the feasible new computer network structure and communication, special digital signature and proxy re-encryption theory, distributed network intrusion detection, and explore new theories and methods of network and information security.
