Peking University Graduate School of Landscape Architecture (hereinafter referred to as GSLA, PKU) was established in June 2003, and its predecessor was Peking University Landscape Planning and Design Center, which was established in June 2003. Inspired by a series of guidelines and spirits of the 16th National Congress of the Communist Party of China on persisting in educational innovation, deepening the reform of science and technology education system, strengthening the combination of science and technology education and economy, speeding up the construction of ecological environment, and promoting the harmony between man and nature as the goal of building a well-off society in an all-round way, she is a teaching and research unit established by Peking University. It is a positive response to the severe crisis of human-land relationship caused by large-scale urbanization in China at present and in the future, the urgent demand of society for high-quality urban and landscape planning and design talents, and the challenge of globalization to culture and education.

The Graduate School of Landscape Architecture will adhere to the principle of "three innovations", take discipline innovation, mechanism innovation and teaching mode innovation as the foundation, and aim at cultivating leading talents in international, practical and comprehensive design industry. Under the unified leadership of Peking University, together with other universities, we will actively promote the development of the discipline of landscape design in China, explore a new mechanism of running schools jointly by the state and society, and try and improve a new model of combining scientific research and education with social practice, introducing foreign talents and comprehensively improving teaching level.

The Graduate School of Landscape Architecture will set up a chair for a limited number of professors (by setting up a special fund) according to the international advanced teaching mode of the School of Design; Introduce foreign talents, hire international scholars and designers, and adopt mobile short-term employment; Modular curriculum design: free combination, forming a flexible and diverse team of teachers and a professional education system that meets the needs of society; Workshop and studio mode: short-term discussion and curriculum design for education combined with actual projects.

The enrollment targets of landscape architecture graduate schools are all above the graduate level, and advanced training and education are also carried out. In 2004, it officially expanded its enrollment. At present, the college carries out three kinds of degree education, namely, master of landscape design (30 students are enrolled each year, and the academic system is 3 years); Master of Landscape Architecture (enrolling 30 students every year, with a schooling of more than 3 years) and Master of Human Geography: Landscape Planning and Design (with a schooling of 3 years).
