Tongji University in Shanghai has a special gemology teaching institution-Gemology Education Center of Tongji University. Most members of the center participate in the classroom teaching, practical teaching and construction of the course "Introduction to Gemmology". Introduction to Gemmology is the basic course of "Jewelry Design and Processing" (specialist) and "Jewelry Marketing" (specialist), the main course of "Geology" (undergraduate course) and "Appraisal and Marketing of Gold, Silver and Jewelry" (minor course) in our school, and the main course of the FGA certificate class jointly organized by China and Britain. Therefore, four professors from Gemmology Center participated in the classroom teaching and construction of this course. Gemmology is a highly experimental subject. Therefore, a strong teaching staff is deployed in practice teaching, including 3 professors, 3 lecturers and 1 experimenter, plus a group of master students and doctoral students. The ratio of tutors to students is1:12-1:15. Strong teachers, reasonable resource allocation and excellent team spirit ensure the teaching quality and level of this course. Among the lecturers, Professor Zhou Zuyi was rated as a model worker in Shanghai and one of the top ten pioneering pioneers in Shanghai. In 2003, Professor Liao Zongting was awarded the honorary title of Top Ten Teachers of Tongji University. In 2005, Professor Zhu Jingchang was awarded the honorary title of Top Ten Teachers of Tongji University.
